[상황]

브리는 아이들을 집에서 내쫓기 위해 아이들 물건을 다 정원에 내놓았어요.

 

A: Mom, what's going on?

엄마, 뭐하시는 거예요?

 

B: Oh, I'm throwing you out. I've separated all your things into two sides. This side is yours, Danielle, and the other one is Andrew's.

너희를 (집에서) 쫓아내고 있는거야. 너희 물건들은 양쪽으로 나눠 놓았어. 이쪽은 다니엘거고, 다른쪽은 앤드류거다.

 

A: Where are we supposed to live?

그럼 우린 어디서 살란 소리예요?

 

B: Darned if I know. Uh, Danielle, everything in the north quadrant of your side is clothes and books and such, and the south side are miscellaneous items.

내가 아는 건. 다니엘, 북쪽 1/4에는 옷이랑 책들이 있고, 남쪽에는 잡동사니 물건들이 있다는 거란다.  

 

 

=> 아이들 물건들 마당에 죄다 내놓은 브리. 한쪽에는 옷이랑 책들을 두고, 한쪽에는 잡동사니 물건들을 두었다고 이야기 하네요. :)

여기서 잡동사니 물건들을 이야기 할 때 쓰이는 miscellaneous! 이처럼 miscellaneous는 여러가지 물건들이 뒤섞여있는 상황을 표현할 때 쓰이는 단어예요.

* darned => darn이랑 damed랑 같은 말.

1. intensifier.(강의어: so나 very처럼 다른 말의 뜻을 강화하는 형용사나 부사.)

1. used to express anger or annoyance.
